Main topic idea for Reasoning: Why does Gender Matter?
HistoryRelation to Reasoning/ why i did what i did.
For this project I thought of reasoning as arguing,. My main argument was something i ask myself daily "Why does Gender matter?" Spoiler it doesn't. I thought of each of these as previews to essays i could, and would, write. Each one of these are highly debated topics related to gender and each one is an argument of its own that i researched to make my own through rebuttal to. I even went as far as to make my own "Read more" links because i simply could not shut up. I thought that rather than just writing a tony of tiny paragraphs id give it a fun cover with a preview, as seen here on the right. This little infographic can be found below. |

Relation to Reasoning/why i did it
This is my favorite essay to date i believe, not only because i did a TON of research but also because i can relate. And i also made like seven rocky horror references because i had just re-watched the movie. Again, i was reasoning as a bit of an argument and my argument was again, gender doesn't matter and everyone is struggling with it. I chose to focus on Transmedicalists, folks who believe you must pass to be trans. It may seem like i am defending then, but in reality im just proving them wrong and pitying and sympathizing with them a bit. Anyway this was my argument to those people and their horrid ignorant ideas. This was a fun one to write not only because i am apart of this community but also because it once again made me see more than just black and white and i really like that these apollo projects keep doing that to me. I think that might even be why i choose this topic, just to make sure i had all the info.

Kindergarten Lessons Taught to Teenagers and Those Who Can Legally Drink
I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey. One through the horrors of the less spectacular parts of the Queer Community. The key terms here are going to be the following mess of combined words, Transmedicalism, Truscum, and Transsexual. With two S’s. You have Google, I don't need to explain each one, but I did in a mini glossary below. Now, when you think of a transgender person you think of a passing trans guy, I'm sure of it. The reality of transgender culture throughout its history is to be big and loud. To be yourself and not care for what society thinks about your personal look. And for a cis person, you will have to accept that not every binary transgender woman is going to be what you want to see them as. She may not want to be shaven down to the bone and forced to wear boring trad-fem clothes. That trans girl may want a beard, no surgeries, mixed with drag-style makeup, and a long fur coat. And what's it to you? Is your first thought something like ‘She's faking being transgender! She claims to be a woman yet she has no desire to medically transition, she's a fake!” Or is it along the lines of “Wow, love that coat.” This second option is how normal people should feel unless you're a PETA freak. The second option is exactly how a transmedicalist would see her. Transmedicalists believe that a person who looks unlike the binary gender they say they are isn't really transgender. Sometimes they are grouped with the terrible truscum group of Redditors who believes you must feel dysphoria to be transgender. So my question for those who asked the first question up there is simple. Why does her gender identity bother you so much?
Understanding Transmedicalists' Sad Self HatredI feel bad, I really do pity those who believe hating yourself is the only way you are allowed to find and claim your identity. Transmeds as I'll call them, feel that transtrenders invalidate their pain by being happy not needing to conform to a societal construct. Once again, said by the queen (surprisingly not the drag kind in this context) ContraPoints, in her Transtrenders video as well as her Prounouns video on YouTube. Transmeds claim that it is all for oppression points, while their transgenderism is a medical diagnosis and a burden. Transmedicalism is rooted in self-hatred. They cannot take the fact that they must suffer so much to conform and be seen as the binary they chose, while some nonbinary/binary transgenders could not care less about what others see them as. Transmedicalists are all self-projecting their hatefulness, fears, and dysphoria towards those they view as lesser than them because they have the balls to go against what society believes to be their happiest. So tansmeds decide if they can't beat ‘em, join ‘em! The transphobic jerk-wads that is, not those trying to be themselves obviously. Transmeds use these ideas to gain brownie points from cis people. They must attack other trans people to be the least freaky freaks out there. Yet trans who attack other trans, just because they pass well and want a taste of what it feels like to be the bully, to be normal have always been around. And it isn't all their fault. Yes, they should educate themselves and all, but they are just a factor of the rest of society bullying, attacking, bludgeoning, and killing. Physically and metaphorically, since they were 13 years old. It really does something to a person. “Why do they get to be happy in their made-up gender while I had to suffer all my life to be seen as the right color of paint on the bathroom stall?” “Why are they making all this outlandish crap up when my basic need is seen as abysmal!” “Why don't the punches leave as big of bruises as they did on me?” “It isn't fair! My feelings are diagnosed in the DSM, a doctor told me I was a transexual because I actually chose a real damn gender, therefor I am a true tran!” I read in the Reddit, Tumblr, and TikTok comments from a hurting tran. But, isn't being trans about your feelings? Now why would a passing binary transexual man's feelings about being a man be valid, yet a transgender nonbinary person's feelings towards their lack- or combination- of genders are invalid just because they refuse to conform to society's norms and hate themself? Make it make sense.
Those darn transtrenders!A transtrender is a fake label conjured up by ignorant self-proclaimed trans activists who don't understand the movement. Essentially a transtrender is someone who is “pretending,” to be trans for pity points. “These transtrenders are just following a trend online where all the teenage girls who hate their fathers want to be “enby” now to spite them.” “They are making a mockery of transgenders and taking our movement back forty years! Their annoyance is hurting the trans community due to the absurd “genders” they are making up. These “sweet transvestite’s” really are starting to look like they are from transexual Transylvania. It is the beginning of the end.” That Is what I would say if I was a transmedicalist. Explained better by ContraPoints on YouTube, the magnificent woman I got my knowledge from who also helped me form my own points and topics in this piece. But I'll do my best to put her work to use here. Once again, these people cannot fathom the idea of not needing to conform to a specific gender for somebody else's comfort. Transtreders are not real, if someone is to de-transition that is just them on the journey of finding their true identity. All of the transmedicalists bashing transtrenders aren't helping new trans either. Being attacked for your androgynistic period, whether it’s forever or for a year or so while figuring yourself out, definitely isn’t helping. All of the stigmas are pushing against the gender non-conforming periods all trans go through at some point. Hating or invalidating the experimentation keeps trans people in their boxes and delays transitioning. It singles out trans youth for not conforming when they can't or don't want to. My evidence is examples like myself, and those online like me. Kids who finally find themselves only to have both sides against you. Not to mention that binary transsexualism is a medical construct, gender dysphoria wasn't seen as a disorder until 2013. (Quick Citation Here) I am older than the Gender Dysphoria Diagnosis. Third genders and nonbinary genders have always existed, take the two-spirited people who were a part of Native American culture as an example. They took on both male and female roles as well as dress. They would sew and cook, but they could also be warriors or hunters if needed. (Another Citation) So, who is the real transtrender? The ones who have been around since the beginning, or the ones who claim an identity coined in 2013? And there is nothing wrong with that, but you can't go around calling the original a trend.
The Social part of this Social ConstructIf someone tells you to use he/him pronouns when they have on a hot pink frilly tank top, then you will use his he/him pronouns. If they tell you to use they/them when they look like Popeye, guess what you're going to do? Call them, them. Just because they look like a man or a woman doesn't mean that’s what they have decided to be. Let's backtrack to kindergarten, where you learned a very important lesson, treat others how you want to be treated. You would want someone to use your pronouns, right? And yours probably suits your sex. But mine certainly doesn't, so if I'm willing to use yours, you're willing to use mine I'd hope. Despite my look. My six-year-old cousin can understand this better than the author of a billion-dollar book series about wizards. This whole male and female construct is only built on sex. Why is it now based on looks? It has become the norm now. Boys are blue, girls are pink. Due to colonization of the Western world, we have blue or pink. But what if rather than having a sex (male, female, intersex) decide what you are, a separate thing, your gender should determine what you choose to be? Don't get strung out by someone’s look, don't judge a book by its cover, and read a few pages before you've already decided to fall back on that binary someone's got to fit into. I wonder how many more of these Rocky Horror references I can fit into this piece.
Who caresThe politicians don't care, your racist uncle doesn't care, your parents, peers, friends, and no one really cares about what you identify as. Politicians have tried to make transexuals a hot topic to attack because they're all cross-dressing male pedophiles coming for your six-year-old daughter! No, they aren't obviously. They just want those with little empathy and a truckload of ignorance to vote for them. And it's working. Over 500 Anti-Trans laws in the United States have been proposed, and over 80 have passed. 63.7% of those laws are active now, 377 to be exact. (citation + other citation). The only real reason someone would care would be because of a lustful reason. Those seeking out sex workers are the only ones who really care even a little bit. Now if someone tries to tell you how to live, it's just them repeating what they heard on the news last night. “Them trannies are tryin’ to make my son a sissy! Ain’t no daughter of mine is gonna be a cross-dressing transexual!” “I refuse to let that transvestite near my person.” A few months ago a news story featured on FOX NEWS Backlash of Budlight -please do not watch this it will melt your brain- talking about the backlash due to a Bud Light ad. This ad featured a well-known influencer online known for her “Days of being a Woman,” series on TikTok, Dylan Mulvany, a transgender woman. A redneck's favorite drink ad with a tran advertising it? That was never going to go well. Props to Budlight for that one. The same people who won't let their son buy a Barbie are the ones seeing this crap and spreading it to everyone they know. Fox News cannot even call themselves a news channel, they are an entertainment channel, but these people truly enjoy the “blissfully ignorant” title. They do not care about you or your gender, they are afraid of new things. Citation, my Dad. Fox News paints transgender people as evil pedophiles so no wonder they are so afraid. But that's on them for not educating themselves further. Your gender does not matter at all to anyone but you in any other way than using the correct pronouns. These people have no clue as to what they are talking about, again they are sheep screaming the same thing the guy on the TV did last night. Because of this being transgender comes with having to be an activist. All because of peeps trying to use trans life struggles against them to get votes not in their favor. I'm starting to understand why Mrs. Jane Grace called her band Against Me! Those cis people don't really care. And that's why they are using the vulnerable transmeds that are seeking validation to their advantage and to prove their points to other ignorant cisgender people on the cusp of being supportive. If everyone pretending to care enough to hate transgender people were to be dressed up like they were in Rose Tint My World I think they’d love it, and zip their lips. Having an open mind is one of the best skills a person can have.
Don’t Dream It, Be It / ConclusionKnowing that no one cares, that gender is a modern-age social construct and societal norm, and that you don't need to conform to anyone besides yourself, gives you the freedom to do as you please with your gender. Once you step outside of the box you’ve been put in and become yourself you can finally feel the release, while all bad times are deceased and your confidence will be increased. These references are getting harder and harder. Your authentic identity doesn't end at your clothes or music taste, it goes far deeper than that. Don't let anyone tell you your lifestyle's too extreme and continue to be their prisoner. If your lack of respect for the gender binary hurts someone else then once again, they might need to try the transvestite lifestyle they moan about so much. Just once in their life to see how fun life can be. So instead of trying to conform and convince other trans that their lack of dysphoria or non-passable look is the issue, dress as you desire, wear what you like, and make the changes to yourself that need to be done. Don’t dream of all this, be all of this without a single care for the ignorant judgment of others. You get one life and you've got to use it to the fullest so go put on a cocktail dress and some stilettos.

ART
Correlation to Reasoning/why
I had fun making a cool cover for this again. For the art portion of this project i got to write about and analyze my favorite band so thats probably my "why" for this one. I poured my soul into those analysis things i did not need to do that but i had so much fun and also got really sad but thats art for you. I wrote so much that i could only do 4 separate things or it would've taken so much time with my own explanation of the story as well as my research for the stories as well as backgrounds of these works and their stories. Still related to my topic by being about gender and how self expression isn't a crime yap yap yap. I wanted to do this whole project idea based on an argument i had with someone online about the Against me! song featured on that thing so thats my why. This little card can also be found here on that button. |
